THE BASEMENT KIDS
The Legacy School of Performing Arts is a south Chicagoland school with an extensive performing arts curriculum, curated for youth ages 2 to 17. Established August 6, 2018 in the basement of Transformation Community Center, by IDA nominated choreographer and professional disc jockey, Pagan M. McClure, our mission is to provide a safe space for the unique adolescent talent, while honoring our ancestral giants in the arts. Known for our unique storytelling and groundbreaking productions, LSPA continues to be the blueprint of inspiration, influence and impact for young aspiring artists.
PROGRAMS
Legacy Placement Level
THE DANAS
The Dana McClure Placement Level is designed for the early beginner artist. The Danas take 1 to 2 weekly classes on a recreational based curriculum. Ages 2 to 6.
THE MALINDAS
The Malinda Ray Placement Level is designed for the beginner artist. Malindas take 2 to 4 weekly classes on a recreational based curriculum.
THE B.CEES
The Blair Christian Placement Level is designed for the intermediate artist.
B.CEES are required to take 2 to 4 weekly classes on a recreational and company based curriculum.
THE DEREQUES
Pre-Academy & Academy.
Audition Required.
The Dereque Whiturs Placement Level is a company based training program.
DITS and The Dereques are committed to a full time class schedule, 4 to 6 classes a week, with an emphasis on ballet and modern technique.


LSPA student artists can study the following electives:

VISUAL ARTS
LSPA is best known for our unique storytelling and groundbreaking productions. Since 2018, LSPA has produced and released over 17 visual productions and 2 major films.
